In June 1992, we reached one of our most exciting and ambitious goals. Through the unselfish love of a very special friend, we were blessed with a gift of ten acres of land on Lost Mountain Road in West Cobb County, Georgia.
The first step in our dream of relocating has now been realized. As the Lord provides, we will move forward.
Early estimates for the completed building project are approximately $1.6 million dollars. I know this endeavor is a big challenge, but I also believe we can meet it successfully.
Since our beginning, we have operated on free-will gifts from churches, businesses, individuals and organizations dedicated to providing help for children in need. Financial support received through these donations provides the Home's annual budget expenses.
Calvary is debt-free, and our goal in the building project is to build the Home debt-free. We want to make sure the money for the operation of the Home goes directly to the support of our children and not to interest payments or construction costs.
We are grateful for the investments so many of you have made in the lives of our children at Calvary. Together we have worked to create a refuge and opportunity.
A dream realized . . .
In September 1997, we reached one of our most exciting and ambitious goals. After 30 years in Smyrna and many years of praying and planning, a long-term dream has been realized with the relocation to our new property in Powder Springs, Georgia.
The move from less than one acre of land and one dormitory-style building to thirteen acres, three beautiful homes and a large multi-purpose dining hall and the administration building was made possible because caring people had a heart for these young people.
Since our beginning in 1966, our work has been supported by churches, businesses, individuals and organizations dedicated to providing a "second chance" for children in need. This financial support provides the Home's annual expenses.
Calvary remains debt-free, but the cost to maintain our new facility will far exceed anything in the past. When viewed through human eyes, it seems overwhelming; but we serve a great God who is able to touch the hearts of those who count it a privilege to be a part of making (Calvary Children's Home a safe haven from the storms for these young lives.
Our doors are always open ...our Home is yours!
